A Transition Moment… with Pastor Mike
What is on your wish list?
Does anyone remember the old Christmas catalogues that used to arrive in the mailbox weeks before Christmas? It was an exciting time for us kids and a frustrating time for our parents. There were just too many exciting treasures to wish for, and too much begging/whining!
Today, the marketing instruments have changed and the pressure on families is even stronger. Kids are constantly bombarded with ads aimed at selling them on their need for some new trinket. But what about us adults…what do we wish for?
Many days I wish for a news cycle that does not include…well…bad news. I’d like some good news today! I wish that covid was history. I wish there was a cure for cancer. I wish that people had safe trips to visit family for the holidays! I wish that our nation’s leaders were working together to help the poor and the middle class! I wish that international leaders would be polite and friendly and not throw angry, bullying words at each other! I wish people would smile more and be patient with each other! I wish that people of all nationalities,
orientations, beliefs, and races would love each other and care for their neighbors.
Is that too much to wish for?
As believers and disciples of Jesus we use this Advent season to remind us that God is listening and is about to do something amazing that will reveal the power of God’s love for us. Hang in there folks…Christmas is coming! Not the fake Christmas with all its trinkets, but the real Christmas with its gift of divine love that is for you! That is the good news for all people this day!
Blessings and peace! Pastor Mike
