Communication

I asked some members: What is our biggest challenge at Redeemer?

The answer: communication.

I mentioned that to staff and leaders and they seemed to agree. Interesting???

What I have noticed over the years is that when congregation members feel like they are missing important information, they become anxious. When a group of people become anxious, they don't communicate as well. When they aren't communicating, they become even more anxious (you see where this goes).

What is the answer to this cycle of frustration and confusion?

Everyone needs to ask questions and then needs to listen.

Often, I see leaders become focused upon calming the latest storm and they get so absorbed that they don't always remember to communicate. Most people think that the burden for communicating resides with those in leadership. I think the burden for communicating resides with everyone.

So, if you want to know something...ask.

If you wonder what council is up to...find a council person and ask.

If you have questions for the staff...ask them.

If you have questions about the greater church...ask pastor (he is good a making up answers!)

Ask, ask, ask and then ask some more. Become pests. Pretend you are a report or a 3-year old and just keep asking. Our future depends on your questions!

Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you" (Matthew 7:7). Ask, seek, knock...let's open some doors to our exciting future!
