Vision
What is God’s vision for Redeemer LC and our work on God’s behalf?
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) “Where there is no vision, the people perish…(not parish?).”
What is this “vision” the writer is speaking of? There is strong implication that we will die or decline if we do not know our purpose. The same verse from the Message translation…
“If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves….”
Let’s talk in terms of a congregation. “…a vision is a descriptive picture of the future for that congregation. A vision should answer the question 'What would it look like here if we were really fulfilling our mission?' By defining the future, the congregation can form plans and priorities to support that future.”– Tim Nichols
What is God’s vision for our future? Will it look like the past? Will our vision of our future be based upon our outlook from 10 or 20 years ago?
The French poet Paul Valery reminds us, “The problem in our time is that the future is not what it used to be.” Interim is a time for us to work together as a congregation to determine what God is calling us to be and to do for the kingdom. This is good work.
